Getting Started

Decide on the type project you want to complete:

Regardless of the project, it is easier to have your files ready for use before beginning. This will require a storyboard or plan.

How to Create Backgrounds for Titles/Text in Photo Story 3 with Microsoft Paint

Open Microsoft Paint

-A new file automatically opens with the default image settings
-For a background in Photo Story you probably want the dimensions to be 1024 X 768 so go to:
--> Image
--> Attributes and change the width and height. Be sure pixels are selected.
Click OK.

-Then start designing by using the tools palette. If you want a solid color then select the ink well tool, choose the desired color and simply click inside the large solid area.

- Your creation is only limited by your imagination at this point.

Remember... this is a background for text, do not make it too busy.

Saving your file:
-Click on:
-File
-Save
-Choose your location
-Give the file a name
-Change the file type to a .jpeg (.jpg)
-Click Save

Students can create illustrations for their short stories and many other ideas using this same method in Paint.

That's how you create a background for your text if you do not want to place your text on a picture.

Using PowerPoint to create fantastic looking titles etc.

In PowerPoint, create slides with graphics, pictures, titles and anything else you want. No animations since you will be saving them as JPEGs.

When you save your show choose "Save As" and in the field "Save as type" choose JPEG.

This will allow you to save each individual slide as a JPEG. Once you are finished open Photo Story 3 and import the slides as pictures.
